Holidays and Observances

Bodhi Day —  This is a full day meant for remembrance and meditation.

Magha Puja Day -- Commemorates the date when the four disciples traveled to join the Buddha.

New Year's Day -- Many Buddhists observe the Chinese New Year celebration.  Mahayana Buddhists and Theravada Buddhists, however, celebrate the New Year on other days. So the Buddhist celebration is generally dependant on the country of origin or ethnic background.

Wesak or Buddha Day — The celebration of Buddha's birth. This is the most important Buddhist festival.
