Gerry Segger Heritage Collection Resources: Reading Room Materials

Reading Room Book and Article List

Reading Room

The Reading Room of the Gerry Segger Heritage Collection houses books that support research about  Dutch immigration to North America, and includes both published and non-published personal stories.  There are a number of Dutch language books that immigrants brought with them when they emigrated.

The books on the list that include call numbers are available for local use in the Reading Room.  They are not available for loan.  However, if you wish to consult one of the books and you are unable to visit the Gerry Segger Heritage Collection contact your local library and ask for an interlibrary loan.  Your library may be able to find a copy for you to borrow.

As well, the Reading Room will continue to build the collection to include supporting materials on The King's University College and many of the organizations that the immigrants built and supported.

An interesting collection of Psalters and Bibles in the Dutch language is developing.  Many of the Psalters are pocket-sized and the obvious wear on them indicate that they were treasures that were heavily consulted.
