E-books @ King's

This guide should assist users with using e-books that are available to the King's primary users: students, faculty and staff. External card holders are not able to use e-books unless they are on-campus using one of the machines in the library.

eBook Use

eBooks often have specific user licenses associated with them when purchased or subscribed to by the library. These licenses outline certain rules that affect how you can access the book.

  • Concurrent Users: Certain books may only allows a limited number of users to access the book at the same time. You can view how many users a book allows by accessing the item's detail page on the database. If you cannot access an eBook that has a limited number of concurrent users, then you may need to try again at a different time for a user to end their session.
  • Off-Campus Access: eBooks that the library has purchased or subscribes to will require you to authenticate if you are not connected to campus internet. Authenticate using your King's email and password
  • Download Limitations: Depending on what database or provider you are getting your eBook from, you may have certain limitations on how many pages you can download, and what format that download will be in. Some platforms require a third party software to read books offline. You can view what you are allowed to download on the item's detail page; more detailed information on using different platforms can be found by accessing the help guides available on this page.
