Worldcat Discovery requires authentication through your King's Microsoft account to access your account and access some materials. To access the sign in page, click on "My Account" on the main library website underneath the Quicklinks header.

If you are already on the search results page, you can also access the sign in options in the header or the footer of the webpage.

If you are already logged in on your computer with your King's microsoft account, your login will be complete. If not, follow the steps below to log into your account:
1. Sign in selection: Click on the box that says "King's University Current students and staff login". If you are using a personal computer, you may ask it to remember your selection for 60 days by clicking the box above the two options. If this is selected, you will not see this screen again for 60 days, and will instead automatically proceed to step 2.

2. Sign in using your King's email and password, and follow the steps for 2-Factor Authentication if prompted.

Once you are logged in, your name will appear in the top right corner and you will have access to your account menu.

You will also be prompted to sign in whenever you do an action that requires an account, such as placing a hold or accessing an electronic item. Follow the same steps to sign in when prompted.
Your account page contains information about your holds, checked out items, overdue items, and more. You can quickly access your account from the search results page using the header menu in the top right corner of the page or the footer menu on the bottom right. Keep reading to learn more about managing your account on this page. For more information on Saved Lists and Items, visit the Saved Lists and Search History Page.
If you require an item for longer than its loan period, you may be able to renew it. Renewals are only available on regular circulating materials. They are not available for reference items or items kept at the service desk, such as course reserves or calculators. Additionally, if an item has been requested by another user, you cannot renew the item.
Renewal periods will be the same as the original loan of the item. For example, an item that has a two week loan will be renewed for two weeks. Renewal periods are applied from the date that you renew the item, not from their original due date. You should wait until it is close to an item's due date to renew an item or you will only extend the loan period by a short amount of time. View the table below to see a break down of the loan periods for items.
| Item Type | Students | Employees | NEOS Borrowers | Community |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main Collection | 6 Weeks |

3 Weeks | 2 Weeks |
| Curriculum Materials | 6 Weeks | 6 Weeks | 3 Weeks (Some restrictions may apply) | 2 Weeks (Some restrictions may apply) |

You can renew your library items through your WorldCat Discovery account. Select "Checkouts" on your account page or from the header or footer menu. This will take you to a list of all the items that you have checked out from the library. You can organize the list by title or by due date by clicking on the arrows next to these headers. Details about the item, it's due date, and its status can be viewed on this page.

To renew an item, check the box next to the title and click on "renew items" at the top of the list. You may select multiple items at a time, or check the box by "Select all" to check all the items on the list. Confirm the items that you wish to renew in the pop up menu, or hit cancel to modify your choices. Once you hit renew, you will get a message displaying if the renewals were successful or not, and you can view the new due date in the furthest right column on the page.
You can access your requests through your account page. Click on "my account" on the library homepage and navigate to the "Request" tab or access it from the dropdown menu from the search results page. Your request page will list all the items you have requested, the date you submitted it, and the item's status.
To cancel a request, select the item using the checkbox next to the cover. You may select more than one item. Hit "cancel request" and confirm your choice on the menu that appears.
To edit a request, click on the text that reads "Edit request" underneath the item's submitted date. You can edit the dates you want the item for and include any notes for your request.

For more information on how to place a hold, visit Placing Holds on the "Accessing Items" page.
Borrowing history allows you to see physical items that you have checked out in the past. By default, this option is disabled. To enable it, follow the steps below:
1. Open your account menu by clicking on "My Account" on the library's homepage. This can also be opened from the search result page in the top right corner of the screen or in the footer of the webpage
2. If prompted, sign into your account using your Kings University Microsoft login details.
3. Select "Profile" from the menu options
4. Underneath the heading that reads "Borrowing History", toggle the icon next to "Enable my borrowing history"

Once borrowing history is enabled, any items returned to the library will appear in your borrowing history. To access this history, click on the "Borrowing History" tab on your account page, or click on "my account" on the top right of the page and select "Borrowing History"
Please note that due to privacy policy, library staff cannot access your borrowing history. The only way to monitor your borrowing history is by enabling it on your account. Items returned before you enable your borrowing history will not be retained. Borrowing history is only retained for 6 months.
To disable your borrowing history, navigate to your profile page using the steps outlined above. Toggle the button next to "Enable my borrowing history". A dialogue box will ask you to confirm your choice. Disabling your borrowing history will also delete any items already in your borrowing history.
Library users can view their fines on their library account under "Fines". Any fees will be listed as well as details including the item the fee is attached to and details of the fine itself.
The King's University Library does not charge fines for overdue items except for the following:
| Item Type | About | Fine |
|---|---|---|
| Recalled Items | Items that have been requested by other users are subject to a recall. If the item has been checked out to you for longer than two weeks you will have 5 days to return the item before you are charged an overdue fee. If you have had it less than two weeks, the due date will be set to two weeks from the date the item was checked out. | $2.00/day |
| Hourly Reserve Items | Reserve items are short term loans designed to be shared by all students in a class. Reserves that are loaned out by the hour are charged an overdue fee hourly. We strongly encourage you to use hourly loans within the library and return them to the service desk once you have finished using them. 1-Hour reserves are due back exactly 1 hour after the item was checked out. | $1.00/hour |
| Daily or Weekly Reserve Items | Reserve items are short term loans designed to be shared by all students in a class. Reserves that are loaned on on a daily or weekly basis (such as a 1-day loan or a 1-week loan) are charged over dues at a daily rate. Items are due by closing time on their due date, and we encourage you to return them directly to the library service desk. | $1.00/day |
Any library fines or overdue materials may result in the withholding of marks, transcripts, diplomas, timetables and registration confirmation. Borrowing privileges are suspended when unpaid fines or lost items exceed $50.00.
Items can be returned to the service desk inside the library or at the book return box at the main entrance of The King's University.
Items that are more than 30 days late will be assumed lost and a $150.00 fine will be added to your account. If the item is returned, the $150.00 will be removed and you will be charged for any applicable overdue fees. If the item has been lost or damaged to the point where it is no longer usable, you will be charged for the loss of the item. This fine will vary depending on the replacement cost of the item itself. Please speak to library staff before paying for lost books online, as the automatic charge for lost books will likely be different than the actual cost of the book.
Library fines can be paid in registry but only after you have spoken with library staff to confirm the charges. You can only pay fines on materials that have been returned to the library. Fines for overdue library materials may be appealed by contacting the library. Visit us in the library or email us to discuss your options.
